I really can’t remember how and when “gandaeversomuch,” Orman Manansala and me became really close. As I was formulating my entry for this BLOG-VERSARY CONTEST FINALE  I can’t help but list down all the things we both LOVE. Maybe just maybe I can pin point the reason why we “click” really well and instantly became super friends. In the criteria we must choose one BEST experience or encounter with his royal Gness Orman Manasala but I can’t choose one because every encounter and every experience I get to share with him exceeds the other, so I decided to list them ALL down. Here is my list: “GANDA EVER SO MUCH,” his royal Gness (as i call him) ORMAN MANANSALA and ME LOVES

BEAUTY: every year he spear heads the BEST BEAUTY PAGEANTS not only here in GENSAN but also in SOUTHERN MINDANAO. These are the Lakan at Lakambini, Miss Gensan, Queen of  Festivals in Southern Mindanao and Body Fest.

FOOD: we LOVE food we carry big smiles whenever their are PLURKFIESTA, OPENINGS, PARTIES etc…  our LOVE for FOOD blossomed even more when PIYESTA KTV & RESTOBAR came. In his blogs he talks about his gastronomic experiences and he knows very well where to find the BEST FOOD not only in our home town, GENSAN but also in DAVAO and CAGAYAN DE ORO.

Blogging brought out the best in him. And did I mention he BLOGS everyday? every single day for a year now. Can you imagine how many thoughts, funny lines, treasured moments he kept inside his heart before he started blogging? Oh their must me a MILLION!!! *wink* We both run to our teacher LYLE SANTOS for our blogs technical support. My Gness Orman Manansala is the reason why I’m inspired to BLOG everyday because I want to follow his steps.

FUN, LAUGHING & JOKES: Orman is always the life of the party it’s not a real party with out him. Even when he is not feeling well he still manages to let out punch lines every now and then. He can formulate funny lines and jokes in a second. Never a dull moment when your with him, even in worst times he still manages to lighten up the moment with his wit and innate love of laughters.

Maintenance for REBONDED HAIR

Here are the DO’s and DONT’s I gathered for all you ladies and some gentleman who had their HAIR REBONDED.

DO’s in HAIR REBONDING

• See to it to have your HAIR MAINTENANCE TREATMENT if not once a week once a month
• Do CONDITION your hair everyday
• Buy HAIR COATS to further protect your hair
• Brush your hair twice a day to massage scalp and bring out the natural oils to make your hair silky and shiny
• Do tell your HAIRSTYLIST the HISTORY of your HAIR before doing HAIR REBONDING

DONT’S in HAIR REBONDING

• Do not SHAMPOO HAIR 2-3 days after HAIR REBONDING
• Do not use HAIR CLIP, HAIR BANDS or HAIR GRIPS
• Do not COLOR HAIR for at least TWO WEEKS
• Do not PERM HAIR for at least TWO WEEKS
• Do not HIGHLIGHT your HAIR with BLEACH
• Do not expose HAIR to SALT WATER like go swimming in the BEACH
• Do not expose HAIR to CHLORINATED water like swimming POOL
• Do not expose HAIR to intense SUNLIGHT
• Do not use HAIR STEAMERS if doing HAIR TREATMENTS

Do have a PADDLE BRUSH to comb hair thoroughly.

These are the HAIR TREATMENTS you can try at home.

Do this treatment once a week. Leave it on to your hair for about 30 minutes. And rinse about 80% of the treatment.

I was introduced to FANNY SERRANO COSMETICS during the LOOK & LEARN MAKE-UP SEMINAR with FANNY SERRANO by NATASHA. Fanny used his cosmetic line in doing the make-up of his models during the seminar.

I had a close look experience on how to use FANNY SERRANO products by no other than FANNY SERRANO himself.

FANNY SERRANO CONCEALERS are “magnetically magical.” Magnetic because Fanny said it’s function is make the foundation or powder attach to the skin and clings on to it just like magnets. Make-up TIPS from FANNY SERRANO

I joined the LOOK & LEARN MAKE-UP SEMINAR of FANNY SERRANO by NATASHA last July 21, 2010. I learned a lot of MAKE-UP TIPS from the guru himself FANNY SERRANO. Armed with my Lumix lx3 camera, pen and notebook I wrote all the TIPS and “trade secret” FANNY SERRANO shared and took pictures as well.

For me as a Make-up Artist wannabe I try to absorb and gather all the tips I can get to improve my “craft.” And of all the new things I learned I want to spread and share them with you.

Tools I saw FANNY SERRANO used and he said you must have are:

• candy, mint, bubble gum
• hand sanitizer
• facial tissue
• wet ones
• cotton buds
• johnsons baby oil
• twiser
• water gun
• towel
• head band
• gown (like malong for client that will use tube top gown to cover their neck with make-up as well)
• brush set
• sponge (Fanny uses SEA WEED sponge)

MIX MAKE-UP TIPS I gathered from FANNY SERRANO.

• Practice, practice, practice – Fanny Serrano when he was just starting he shared that he used to practice in a piece of paper stick on the wall and he draw eyes, eyebrows and nose then imagine that it is the face of the client. Make-up artist are like painters but their canvass are faces.
• Exercise your hands – to make it flexible, light and soft. Like pianist they warm their fingers up to make it flexible and soft.
• Hand Sanitizer – alcohol can make your hands dry according to Fanny. Before he always use alcohol to clean his hands as a result it’s dry and looks older than the other skin of his body.
• Know your client – you must also know a little about your client her lifestyle and  the way she presents herself so that your make-up will compliment her perfectly.
• SPEED – respect your clients time. They have parties, shows, and weddings to attend to. Compute the time allowance you do the make-up and the time your client suppose to arrive to the party or wedding.
• Blending – make-up is all about blending. Different colors must not have any demarkation line. Color should compliment each other.
• BRUSHES – invest on good quality brush set
• CONTOUR – contour using foundation NOT blush
• CLEAN – clean foundation remnants brush eyebrows before drawing with the eyebrow pencil. Make sure brushes are always clean.
• TEST – try the eyeshadow at the back of your palm first. Painter use palette to mix paint color MUA use the back of their palm.
• Put concealer and foundation up until hair line, ears, neck and side of nose
• Use old angled brush to put mascarra to the base of the eyelash
• If eyes get teary use cotton buds to release the tears.
• After putting on eyebrow pencil brush it to eliminate pencil look
• Sharpen eyebrow pencil shaped like chisel so that it’s thin and wider

• Use colorless mascarra to stroke eyebrow hair
• In putting make-up start small and then just add bit by bit. It is better to add than erase a make-up.

• Learn and find a great concealer and foundation that will fit you or your client perfectly. Eyeshadows go for any color
• Put eyeliner starting from the outer corner of eyelid
• Put gloss at the center of lips only
• Focus on cheek bones to lift sagging looking face.

FANNY SERRANO look & learn MAKE-UP Seminar

July 21, 2010 A look & learn MAKE-UP seminar with FANNY SERRANO was conducted by NATASHA at Paseo del Sol. Make-up artist, Hairstylist and Salon owners from all over Socsargen gathered to learn and improve their crafts.

The look & learn make-up seminar started around 1:30 in the afternoon. FANNY SERRANO one of the Philippines Beauty guru and TOP make-up artist spend his time to share and teach us his “trade secrets.”  FANNY SERRANO does make-up for the MEGA star SHARON CUNETA, KC CONCEPTION and LORNA TOLENTINO among others.

FANNY SERRANO now has his own line of make-up and it is carried and sold by NATASHA and is also available in all SM Department stores. FANNY SERRANO make-up line is not only sold here in the Philippines but Internationally as well. An Internationally competitive make-up line product but sold in a very Filipino friendly price is what FANNY SERRANO envisioned and so he did.

Backed up by his 45 years of experience in the beauty and make-up industry FANNY SERRANO intricately made his make-up line. Finding a great chemist that can deliver my demands and needs for the perfect make-up combination was very hard and crucial, Fanny said. But eventually he found one.

FANNY SERRANO did a step by step make-up for 3 lady models and 1 man. First he did a day time bridal wedding make-up, then a evening make up and a smokey eyes make-up.  He’s hands works really fast but he slowed it down for us to see and learn step by step. He also made sure that the camera man focuses on the right angle so that participants from the back can see. He did all the talking and the whole 4 plus hours was not boring.

He made us laugh I over heard someone saying, “FUNNY talaga si FANNY.” He also shared his experiences as a make-up artist and salon owner and also even shared tips and advices to run our salon business. What made the crowed silent was when he honestly and with out holding anything back told the “gay” of the BAD practices in the salons and that they must CHANGE. I felt the tension in the crowed and that it struck them in a way. He also gave them advices on how to take care of their finances and that they must not give all their money to their “papa” or “boyfriends.” But then again he quickly changed the mood and throw punch lines here and there that made the crowd burst into laughter.

In the end we were given certificates signed by FANNY SERRANO and NATASHA branch managers.

To discuss further the things I learned, I will do a separate post on all the MAKE-UP tips I gathered from this LOOK & LEARN MAKE-UP SEMINAR by FANNY SERRANO.

CELETEQUE FACIAL TONER

CELETEQUE FACIAL TONER is one of my new facial friend. In my previous post NIGHTLY RITUAL I said I use PONDS FACIAL TONER. But I noticed that it’s a bit strong because I can’t open my eyes with out a stinging sensation.

I tried using my brother’s CELETEQUE FACIAL TONER and I read that it is ALCOHOL-FREE. CELETEQUE FACIAL TONER is with witch hazel extract it is derived from plant leaves it is anti-inflammatory; soothes and heals skin. It is also good for itchy skin.

CELETEQUE FACIAL TONER is also dermatologist tested, good for sensitive to dry skin (where I categorize my skin), non-comedogenic, hypo-allergenic and fragrance free.

I noticed in using CELETEQUE FACIAL TONER that it is more gentle and does not leave a very dry feeling in my face. And because it is fragrance free it is just like rubbing water in my face.

TIP: apply toner in face and neck in upward strokes.

I now replaced my PONDS FACIAL TONER to CELETEQUE FACIAL TONER. And loving it.

Hair Gloss Treatment

What is HAIR GLOSS Treatment?

The real HAIR GLOSS TREATMENT is a cellophane treatment for the hair by L’oreal. HAIR GLOSS Treatments coats the hair with semi permanent color that will leave hair silky, smooth and shiny. If your hair has a color already and just wants a treatment to make it shine their is a HAIR GLOSS TREATMENT for it too.

Other Salons offer “HAIR GLOSS TREATMENT” that promises clients of a STRAIGHT and SHINNY hair. These salons just uses the TERM “HAIR GLOSS TREATMENT” but what they really do is HAIR RELAX or HAIR STRAIGHTENING.  Be cautious in salons like this. HAIR GLOSS just supposed to be a treatment for the hair to enrich the color and makes it silky and shiny. It can not straightened the hair.

The only salon service that can straighten the hair are: HAIR RELAX, HAIR STRAIGHTENING, and HAIR REBONDING.

Time to be cautious when hairstylist do these:

• When the service cost extremely low and they promise a straight ”like-rebonded” hair.
• Prepares a sticky solution usually brownish color (these is relaxing cream)
• Puts powder into your scalp (some salons still do this, this is to prepare for hair relaxing treatment to protect the scalp from the very strong relaxing cream)
• Covers you with a large plastic (some salons use large thick plastic to catch the dripping relaxing cream and not touch the skin because it can cause burned skin)

It is not a sin to ask questions to hairstylist and ask them the brand of products they are going to use to treat your hair.

The next time you go to salons be aware and be sure that it is the real HAIR GLOSS TREATMENT.

False Eyelashes

False Eyelashes looked great especially during high fashion photo shoots. In make-up for photography vibrant colors are shown to exaggerate features. I like doing make-up for photography and fashion show because I can freely exercise my artistic freedom. (awts! meron ako nun?, hehehehe)

False Eyelashes is my partner in bringing out fun, lively and brilliant look into my models. They look different once high fashion make-up is done they transform into my live walking and talking bratz dolls. (hehehehe)

Their are a lot of False Eyelashes available in the market. You can find them at beauty supplies store and make-up section at every mall’s department store. Some False Eyelashes now incorporate glitters, feathers, beads and colorful neon plastic.

I do not recommend using False Eyelashes for everyday use especially when the material is made of plastic. False Eyelashes are perfect for special occasions, fashion shows and photo shoots,

Their are also False Eyelashes that are not synthetic or plastic. Some False Eyelashes the costly one are made of 100% human hair these are the kind that you can use everyday.

Putting on False Eyelashes is hard and very tricky. I spend about a great deal of a time to put it on myself being that I do not put it often.

For a longer lasting False Eyelashes you should also use a good eyelash paste. Sometimes it’s hard to stick it on because of the heavy eyeshadow make-up. I found a great eyelash paste. I ask from FIDA‘s make-up instructor and maybelline color expert, ARCHIE to buy me one from Manila.

my HAVAIANAS FIFA World Cup Edition

Now, I’m officially a “football” or “soccer” fan. Again I have my boyfriend, Emmanuel to blame on this one. And recently I experienced my very first FIFA WORLD CUP fever. Now I understand the beauty and the enthusiasm of the whole world for this game.

I was rooting for SPAIN to win the FIFA WORLD CUP and HORRAY!!! they WON!!! VIVA!!! viva ESPAÑA!!! (ole.. ole.. ole.. ole…!!!!) My support for them didn’t stop after  the game. I’ve been using 3w solution BB cream for a month now. It feels very light in my face and I can see that my face is glowing. Since I’m a MAYBELLINE user girl I decided to buy and try MAYBELLINE’s BB CREAM to match my MAYBELLINE MINERAL FOUNDATION.

As always MAYBELLINE brought out the beauty in me. It’s a perfect combination to my MAYBELLINE MINERAL FOUNDATION. In putting on MAYBELLINE BB CREAM I instantly saw the difference, it lightens and smoothens my skin and sometimes I don’t need to put on my concealer because it already did the job.

MAYBELLINE BB CREAM also serves as my day time moisturizer. I love it because it has SPF 26 (Sun Protection Factor). Base on a blog I read the number 26 signifies the intensity of the sun protection. For example you are expose to the sun, your skin will have 26 minutes of protection before you get suburn (source: HERE)

I also love the packaging because it fits my kikay kit fairly well.

My boyfriend, Emmanuel is not vain but because of our constant travels (Gensan-Davao vice versa) he needed to have his  VANITY KIT or “KIKOY KIT” to carry his toiletries, perfumes, deodorant etc. Lets face it we all use beauty products men and women alike. • Rexona Deodorant- he uses the spray type & anti perspirant
• Penshoppe Cologne- he brings the plastic bottle for convinience
• Gillette Shaver Double blade- this is a wise buy unlike the disposable one because he can replace the blades
• Gillette after shave
• Colgate Toothpaste & Toothbrush- he uses the bending type toothbrush
• Astring-o-sol mouth wash
• Cotton buds
• RIZO Wax- this is for styling his hair, this leaves his hair up but it’s not sticky
• Enervon C MultiVitamins
• Imodium- for emergency purposes

I stuffed the tummy of my JUDGES first at PIYESTA KTV & RESTO BAR. I served them sweet and sour lapu-lapu, ginataang paksiw na talakitok, our famous pakbet, sinuglaw and tuna buntot.

After the sumptuous dinner it was time to scrutinize the 11 entries. The judges took the tasks seriously and really picked which entry deserved to win.
