Since rainy days are here I’ve been talking about head pieces that is great for rainy season. My last post was about BERET which I’d love to have. Theirs one more thing I’d love to have-BEANIE hat. Last year when My brother and I went to Singapore he bought a BEANIE hat. I wore it there and found it very fashionable and useful especially this rainy season.
What is Beanie hat?
A beanie is a head-hugging brimless cap with or without a visor that was once popular among school boys. Beanies are made by triangular sections of cloth joined by a button at the crown and seamed together around the sides.
The term is said to derive from a type of headgear worn in some medieval universities; the yellow hats (“bejaunus,” that is, “yellowbill” later “beanus,” a term used for both the hats and the new students) evolved into the college beanies of later years.According to another source, the origin of the term comes from the early 20th century slang term “bean,” which meant “head.” In Canada, New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom, the term “beanie” may also be applied to a knit cap known as a tuque.
Beanies are often constructed from yarn, using knitting or crochet techniques. While the beanie is considered a fairly humble piece of clothing, it has been elevated to the status of regional art in Alice Springs, Australia- which is claimed by some to be the Beanie Capital of the world. If your having a bad hair day you can tuck in your hair in a BEANIE hat and you’d still look good and fashionable. I will start my hunt for a BEANIE HAT today.
