Here comes the SUN in Mindanao
Yes, summer is here but I’m talking about a different SUN for now. I’m talking about Sun Cellular great news for us here in Mindanao. Sun Cellular expands it’s coverage here in Mindanao.
Yesterday, Sox Bloggers met with Sun Cellular Executives Jocel Adorable, Assistant VP for Marketing Services and James Arthur Lim and they personally gave us this GOOD news.
Hearing this good news I was ecstatic, my whole family and all our business establishments are using SUN Cellular because it’s very convenient and cost effective. Our communication lines with our business is very important to us and SUN Cellular is one of our partner.
Here’s SUN CELLULAR official write up regarding the announcement/ GOOD news.
Sun Cellular Expands More Coverage in Mindanao
Sun Cellular is expanding its network coverage in the Mindanao area to bring its best value services to more customers in southern Philippines.
Sun Cellular Chief Operating Officer Charles Lim says they will be strengthening their network coverage in areas of Mindanao to include Lanao del Norte and Lanao del Sur, Basilan, Camiguin, Zamboanga, Tawi-Tawi, Dinagat Island, Compostela Valley, Sulu, parts of Bukidnon, Cagayan de Oro and Davao del Sur among others . “The demand for our best-value products and services in Mindanao is immense, hence we prioritized this region in the initial phase of our network enhancement program for 2012,” he explained.
Lim added, “Sun is improving its signal strength in Mindanao to provide its subscribers wider network coverage and more reliable service especially in key areas in the region such as Davao, General Santos, and Cagayan de Oro. We want those in Mindanao to optimize their experience of our unlimited call and text service, as well as the value-for money bucket load and postpaid plans that Sun has been providing its subscribers nationwide.”
Sun Cellular has been known for its best value product offering such as the Text Unlimited 150 which allows customers to text other Sun subscribers unlimited for 30 days and the Text Unlimited 200 which also includes 500 texts to other networks aside from the 30-day unlimited Sun-to-Sun texts. “Mindanao is an important market for us. Local and national officials from the region have been sending us letters on behalf of their constituents and we’d just like to say we have heeded their call ,” Lim enthused.
Lim revealed that the Mindanao network improvement will just be the initial salvo of network enhancement programs that Sun has lined-up this year. “We will be augmenting our existing 6,000 plus cell sites and will further strengthen coverage which will also be felt in the areas of North Luzon and the Visayas region, wherever there is a demand for Sun’s affordable communication products and services,” he said.
This will include improving indoor coverage through the use of in-building solutions and high gain antennae in strategic locations. The network improvement program also involves optimizing exisiting cellsites to boost both 2G and 3G signals.
Sun Cellular is a Member of the PLDT Group.

APHCA International Hair & Makeup Competition
Last November 7, 2011 together with mother Ricky Reyes and 35 Philippine delegates we went to Macau to participate and compete in the 15th APHCA(Asia Pacific Hairdressers & Cosmetologists Association) International Competition. The venue for the event was at the Venetian Hotel & Convention Center. Three years back the we also joined Ricky Reyes in Guangzhou, China for the same competition my blog post about it: Beauty Tour with mother Ricky.
The APHCA(Asia Pacific Hairdressers & Cosmetologists Association) participated by 40 different countries all over Asia Pacific some of them are: Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, China, Taipei, Taiwan, Sri Lanka, Australia, Korea, Japan, Mongolia, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Macau, Indonesia and the Philippines. I noticed that their are a lot of countries who joined and participated these year than 3 years ago including 6 from Europe. I saw Spain, Portugal, Germany, Russia, France and many more. According to the organizers the purpose of the competition is to stimulate the cooperation and development among the salon industry players and as a result to unite the Hairstyle and Cosmetology industries in Asia Pacific region and uplift their skills to next level.
Or very own Ricky Reyes is the president of the association. Every year the Philippines compete in these prestigious international hair competition and we do not go home empty handed. These year Stephani Ilagan won 1st runner up in the Bridal Make-up category, while Nitz, Ester Garcia, Peping de Guzman, Antonio Agustin, Ronald Tuano, Vicente Hisola, Racquel Pangilaga (all from Manila and Luzon) and our very own Giovanni Luage (Expression Salon-ILIGAN CITY) and my brother Daniel Lois Buddy Congson received honorable mentions for various categories such as Evening Hairstyle, Evening Make-up, Bridal Make-up, Cut and Creative Color.
Initially, I went there to be a judge in one of the categories but I became an impromptu model for my brother, Daniel Lois Buddy Congson for the evening make-up and for Peping de Guzman for the evening hairstyle booth gained honorable mentions for their superb work. It was a very different experience for me this year really an eye opening. I learned that models work in these kind of competitions are no joke, they have to bare wearing outrageous outfits, super high heels, big and heavy head piece, and artistic high fashion hair color and hair style. They need to carry and present the look matched with what the hairstylist or make-up artist envisioned it to be. No runway walk needed for models here, they just need to stay put and when judges approach them they have to show the work of art make by their hairstylist & make-up artist as creatively as they can possibly do it.
Judging these huge event is very different, they have judges from participating countries and assign them to different categories each of the judges has 10+ lucky cards, and the model who has been given the most number of lucky cards will win the category.
I was really at awe with the creativity of hairstylist and make-up artist coming from different countries and culture.
So, ’til next year we might go to either Korea or Cambodia they’ve yet to finalize who will host 2012 APHCA Hair Olympics

Goodbye 2010 HELLO 2011
Before proceeding to my first post for the year of the BUNNY 2011.
I would like to recap the year that was, 2010. It was a great year full of opportunities, challenges, new projects, new blog, new friends, new perspective and events. I want to count my blessings so pardon me if this post seems boring.
Last year I launched this beauty and fashion BLOG which paved the way for the kikay in me. This blog widened my knowledge in both blogging and fashion. Sharing my knowledge as a salon owner is very helpful to me as well that I can re learn what I have learned over the past years with my mothers guidance.
Comments from friends boost my confidence that I’m doing the right thing and that this blog is an extension of me, this is me-I am KIKAY.
I have been blessed last year with people. People who became my friends, my mentors and support group. This blog wouldn’t be born if not for the encouragement of BRENDEL BALAGA of GET PRETTIFIED, RIA JOSE of SHOPPINGERA and LYLE SANTOS of THINKING OUT LOUD. Because of them and this blog that I grew as a person and found that I can be influential and share all my stored knowledge and in the process help a lot of people as well as market our business. Wow so that was 4 birds in one stone?
I have been very lucky and proud to be part of the funnest group of bloggers here in Mindanao which is the SOCCKSARGEN BLOGGERS. They are my support group and second family here in Gensan, they are always there whenever I need them ready to eat the food we prepare for them (hehehehehe)
Opportunities were pouring on me last year that it made me think that I can do everything I want and still maintain my “kakikayan.” I was also task to handle some events and parties here in my beloved city of GENSAN.
I was featured in Cebu Pacific in flight magazine-SMILE for the month of October and November. I was also seen in articles made by RIA JOSE for our blogging activities. M Magazine featured my event the SASHIMI night for the TUNA FESTIVAL. I was also featured by local GMA ISYU KARON as a career woman.
I have watched a lot of national artists and bands concert and have met them in person. I have been to numerous blogging events and activities. I was given the opportunity to write for a local magazine, GENSAN GAZER.
I became closer to my idols as a blogger, leader and loving person-AVEL MANANSALA and as a career driven super multi-talented, funny and gandaeversomcuh -ORMAN MANANSALA.
This year I enhanced my talent as a Make-Up artist and finally had my 1st and 2nd paying customers. And was really lucky to join the FUN SHOOT at GLAN Saranggani with the multi-awarded photographer- Mr. MANNY LIBRODO. Together with the power couple JOJIE ALCANTARA and RHONSON NG.
These year I also become friends with the well known and multi-awarded Picasso behind the lense, MR. APPLE GREATSON. And the man behind all the great visuals during GENSAN’s FESTIVALS an educator a loving person and a leader, MR. MARTHIN MILLADO. And this list will never be complete without the multi-talented and superb writer a loving father and a great dancer, my editor & owner of GENSAN GAZER- MR. ARMANDO NICOLAS. They are my VINO buddies we love having long talks and laugh about everything and anything over our favorite RED WINE.
My soul sister, my fashion & style consultant, my chat buddy my party partner and sissy- MISS ROMARIE IVY CUNANAN last year was a blast because of you.
And to end the year and also this post I thank GOD for TRUE and LOYAL friends over the years we grow apart but our friendship remained strong as ever despite and in-spite the distance and time. To my two best friends ROXANNE BAQUERO and SHARIROSE DICHOSA-MASAHOD thank you for always being there and for the support, guidance and laughers.
I ended the year with a blast organizing and coordinating my best friends un conventional garden civil muslim wedding at the same time be the Master of Ceremony and one of the bridesmaids. To Mr. & Mrs Adbul Masahod a bright and fruitful marriage life awaits you, thank you for trusting in me and for giving me the opportunity to be part of your wonderful LOVE STORY. I love the statement CON said: “Wedding is just ONE day but MARRIAGE is for a LIFETIME.”
Now, I welcome 2011 with optimism and the knowledge that the opportunities that came last year will be doubled of even tripled this year.

Handy Refillable Bottle with Spray
I did a blog before on whats INSIDE MY BAG. I always carry along alcohol and cologne. I carry separate bottles for alcohol and my cologne. I recently stumbled a handy refillable bottle with spray at Robinsons Department Store. I like the purple color and the design of the bottle. It holds two mini spray bottles in one lock.
Here’s a photo of the refillable bottle with spray.
Now, the bulky bottle of alcohol and cologne are reduced into this stylish and girly color handy refillable bottle with spray.
Since the bottle is transparent I put an initial at the bottom to indicate what’s inside “A” for alcohol and “C” for cologne. I wouldn’t want to spray my blouse with alcohol (hehehehe)

Kikay is on SMILE
One of my ultimate dream came true this month and thanks to CEBU PACIFIC inflight magazine SMILE for making it come true. I’ve always found CEBU PACIFIC as my travel partner whenever I go around my country for vacation or business trips. And I’ve always read their inflight magazine SMILE.
And one of my favorite section is the places and the people who gives tips on where to dine, places to go, things to experience and local dialects which is very useful for tourist. During the flight you can browse to the place where you are about to go and read the tips that locals shared in order for you to have a great experience while staying in that place. It was one of my wildest dreams to be on that section and share a tip or two about my home town-GENSAN.
And to my surprise the opportunity came for me from a lovely friend, CATHY BOLODO who casually chatted with me and ask: hey, do you want to be on SMILE magazine? I instantly said: of course YES!. And that was five or six months ago I had a hard time answering the questionnaire because I really wanted to share tips that are useful so that in my own little way I can help my town be promoted. And what a perfect timing it is that the issue where I came out is this month October just in time for my birthday. And a lot of my blogger friends went to word camp last October 2, 2010 at Manila and they where the ones who spread the great news to me. My most influential blogger friend ganda ever so much, ORMAN MANANSALA broke the news he called me giggling and said hey you are on SMILE!, smile “sikat ka nanaman teh” hehehehehehehe
For me it’s not all for glam of course it’s part of it but not all (hehehehehehe) I’m just very honored, privilege and lucky to have this opportunity to share and help promote GENSAN. Thank you CEBU PACIFIC for the wonderful birthday gift. And thank you to the beautiful couple Gay and Ronald Velasquez for giving me a copy. Blessings do come from people and friends and I’m so blessed to be surrounded with great people.

Maria Venus Raj the next Miss Universe?
Photo curtesy of Raymond Saldaña
Maria Venus Raj, Philippines representative to the most coveted title MISS UNIVERSE is wittingly charming her way to the top of the internet polls. A 22 year old government employee and part time model from Bato, Camarines Sur who stands 5 feet 9 inches tall. She fought for her crown because of a citizenship issue but was successfully reinstated.
Maria Venus Raj is a perfect epitome of a modern day cinderella with her movie worthy life story. She is a poor girl that dreamed big.
With her stunning 35-22-35 vital statistics, Filipino-Indian mix, exquisite face, appealing caramel skin tone, an unmatched determination, engaging wit, captivating charm and charisma she’s now the biggest threat to France’s Malika Menard’s attempt to the title according to “Premiere,” a French television program.
Filipinos lets pray and cross our fingers that this coming August 24, 2010 Maria Venus Raj will bring home the 3rd MISS UNIVERSE title for the Philippines.
On a side note I have gathered photos of Maria Venus Raj from the images section of Google and found that HAIRSTYLES do chance our look. I gathered photo of Maria Venus Raj with wavy hair, straight hair, tied in pony tail, up do hairstyle and see the difference it made with her face. My personal favorite is when she lets down her hair with a wavy style in the end. For me a wavy hair is more befitting for a Beauty Queen. But towards the end of the coronation night she must do an UP DO HAIRSTYLES in preparation for the MISS UNIVERSE crown. *wink*
The 2010 Miss Universe Coronation Night will be held at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas on August 23, Monday.
The Miss Universe 2010 pageant will be live via satellite on ABS-CBN 2 on August 24, Tuesday, 9:30 AM with a primetime telecast the same day on Studio 23 at 7:10 PM and on Velvet (SkyCable Ch. 53) at 6:30 PM. (SOURCE)

my BELKIN grip ergo iphone case
I was really surprised when my blogger friend, Melo Villareal suddenly ask me if I want a BELKIN GRIP ERGO CASE for my iPHONE. Of course I’m in no position to brush aside this delightful offer. I instantaneously said, YES!. Then Melo goes on saying, ok I’ll send it to you through Orman.
Thanks to my mom for passing down her iPhone 3gs to me. I had a very hard time using it at first because of my big fingers. I’m really cautious also in holding it because it might slip. When I received the BELKIN GRIP ERGO CASE that Melo sent I immediately tried it on. I find it very convenient, trendy, non slip, and I can easily grip it with out worrying if it will slip.
I can comfortably use my iphone because of it’s Ergonomic design that let’s me do a lot of things like: text, play games, and surf the web. I can also charge my iPhone with out removing the case. I love it’s contoured ridges that provides me a maximum grippability.I can use and access all the controls and dock connector. I even use it to as my mini wallet. I was out with my girls last Saturday and all I have in my hand is my Iphone I slip in my 500 pesos bill at the back of my BELKIN GRIP ERGO CASE and wala! instant mini wallet.
And oh it also comes with a screen protector.
I can now use my iphone’s maximum performance thanks to BELKIN GRIP ERGO CASE.

for GANDA ever so MUCH
I really can’t remember how and when “gandaeversomuch,” Orman Manansala and me became really close. As I was formulating my entry for this BLOG-VERSARY CONTEST FINALE I can’t help but list down all the things we both LOVE. Maybe just maybe I can pin point the reason why we “click” really well and instantly became super friends. In the criteria we must choose one BEST experience or encounter with his royal Gness Orman Manasala but I can’t choose one because every encounter and every experience I get to share with him exceeds the other, so I decided to list them ALL down. Here is my list: “GANDA EVER SO MUCH,” his royal Gness (as i call him) ORMAN MANANSALA and ME LOVES
BEAUTY: every year he spear heads the BEST BEAUTY PAGEANTS not only here in GENSAN but also in SOUTHERN MINDANAO. These are the Lakan at Lakambini, Miss Gensan, Queen of Festivals in Southern Mindanao and Body Fest.
FOOD: we LOVE food we carry big smiles whenever their are PLURKFIESTA, OPENINGS, PARTIES etc… our LOVE for FOOD blossomed even more when PIYESTA KTV & RESTOBAR came. In his blogs he talks about his gastronomic experiences and he knows very well where to find the BEST FOOD not only in our home town, GENSAN but also in DAVAO and CAGAYAN DE ORO.
PHOTOGRAPHY: armed with our Panasonic LUMIX DMC-LX3 camera we love taking photos. He also took Basic Photography Workshops to enhance his photographic skills that will greatly help his BLOG POST. This so far one of the best photo I have depicting his love for photography. Caught in the act …??? ” cguro lalaking talangka kinukunan niya”.
LOVE AND DEVOTION TO GOD AND STO.NIÑO: We both are Sto. Niño devotees we express our love for the little God by joining novenas, by actively participating in our church activities and experiencing SINULOG in Cebu. Orman Manansala takes seriously his deep faith and devotion for our GOD the father.
our LOVE for DAVAO and SOCCKSARGEN BLOGGERS: We gained a lot of new friends (not that we need more). As the saying goes: The more the MERRIER. Through blogging Orman found an outlet to let out his emotions, desires and true self. Blogging broke the stereotype people think of Orman as a serious and high ranking BANKER because now he candidly write and share to the whole world his OUTRAGEOUS thoughts and desires. Blogging brought out the best in him. And did I mention he BLOGS everyday? every single day for a year now. Can you imagine how many thoughts, funny lines, treasured moments he kept inside his heart before he started blogging? Oh their must me a MILLION!!!
*wink* We both run to our teacher LYLE SANTOS for our blogs technical support. My Gness Orman Manansala is the reason why I’m inspired to BLOG everyday because I want to follow his steps.
FUN, LAUGHING & JOKES: Orman is always the life of the party it’s not a real party with out him. Even when he is not feeling well he still manages to let out punch lines every now and then. He can formulate funny lines and jokes in a second. Never a dull moment when your with him, even in worst times he still manages to lighten up the moment with his wit and innate love of laughters.

FAMILY: His love for his family is exceptional. Although Orman and Avel have the arguing chemistry just like Vice and Gladys their love and support for each other shines the brightest.
PNOY: President Nonoy Aquino’s biggest FAN=Orman Manansala. He bluntly campaigned for him and supports his stand and principles. Their first meeting was EPIC and was witnessed by a lot of people.
ADVENTURE: The closes we could get to flying is through ZIP LINE. We both tried the extreme experience in zip linning at Davao Outland Adventure and boy we are in for the ride of our lives most especially “Jollibee ay Darna ay Orman pala” hihihihihihi!!!

it's a BIRD... It's a PLANE... NO... it's DARNA... (at ng malapit na talaga) ay mali pa din si JOLLIBEE pala
hihihihihi hindi lang pala magaling sa sayawan si JOBI nakakalipad din pala sya
DOGS: We both love our baby dogs. Orman’s CHAD and my YUWEI too bad they can’t be together (breed difference). As we speak Orman misses his baby “CHAD”very much. I got this photo from his FB page.
Life has been GREAT ever since I met and be friended the MANANSALA SISTERS. And my life will never ever be DULL and SILENT ever again. I love you to the highest level and with out any romantic attachement (hehehehehe) my royal Gness. I’m very honored and proud to be your friend. I look up to you both in business and blogging, you are my inspiration. Always know that Emman and Me are always here for you.

MONTHsary CONTEST WINNERS!!!
I gathered my blogger friends to play judges to choose the WINNERS for my KIKAY MUCH MONTHsary CONTEST. Since it’s my first time to do blog contest I needed the suggestions and help of my blogger friends. I called GILBERT TAN, SHEILA DUMALAY, JINKY BORELA and RIC DUMALAY to play board of JUDGES. ARMANDO NICOLAS submitted his chosen winners through private message because they had to leave for some reason.
I stuffed the tummy of my JUDGES first at PIYESTA KTV & RESTO BAR. I served them sweet and sour lapu-lapu, ginataang paksiw na talakitok, our famous pakbet, sinuglaw and tuna buntot.
After the sumptuous dinner it was time to scrutinize the 11 entries. The judges took the tasks seriously and really picked which entry deserved to win.
We decided to do an averaging system in judging. So, with out further ado here are the set of winners. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
